Teaching Philosophy

I believe every student develops at their own pace. In order to meet students’ needs, it is important that I, as their teacher, have a thorough understanding of where each student is academically. From there, instruction needs to be differentiated based on the child’s developmental readiness. Instructional tasks need to capitalize on the students’ strengths, interest, and needs, while also promoting a higher level of thinking. Students can be guided to completing educational tasks independently and with confidence through teacher modeling, scaffolding, and encouragement.
