Tuition & Financial Aid

Iowa families may be eligible for state-funded Education Savings Accounts (ESA) and Student Tuition Organization (STO) tuition grants to help cover the cost of a Seton Catholic education.

Iowa Education Savings Accounts (ESA)

Seton Catholic is an approved participating school under Iowa's ESA program. Eligible families can apply for state funding to offset tuition costs.

What is Iowa ESA?

Iowa's Education Savings Account (ESA) program provides state funding directly to eligible families to pay for private school tuition and other approved educational expenses.

Who is Eligible?

All Iowa resident K–12 students are eligible, regardless of household income. Students must be enrolled full-time at an accredited Iowa nonpublic school.

How Much Funding?

Approved families receive $8,148 per student for the 2026–27 school year, distributed in two equal installments — 50% in July and 50% in December.

Approved Uses

ESA funds must first cover tuition and fees. Any remaining balance may be used for other qualifying educational expenses approved by the Iowa Department of Education.

Student Tuition Organization (STO)

Our Faith STO is a state-approved nonprofit that connects Iowa taxpayer donations with families who need tuition assistance for Catholic education.

What is an STO?

A Student Tuition Organization (STO) is a state-approved Iowa nonprofit that collects donations from taxpayers and distributes them as tuition grants to qualifying Catholic school families.

Who is Eligible?

K–12 Iowa students whose household income is at or below 400% of the federal poverty guidelines may qualify for an STO tuition grant.

Tax Benefits for Donors

Iowa taxpayers who donate to an STO receive a 75% state tax credit on their contribution — one of the most generous education tax credits available in Iowa.

How to Apply

Families apply through the FACTS online portal to request an STO tuition grant. Applications are reviewed based on household income eligibility.

Tuition Payment Policy

Seton Catholic School is committed to providing a quality Catholic education while working with families to make tuition payments as manageable and predictable as possible.

Tuition Payments

Families are responsible for making tuition payments according to the payment schedule established with Seton Catholic School.

Tuition payments may be made online through the Seton Tuition Payment Portal.

Families are encouraged to monitor their account and ensure that payments are made according to their selected payment schedule.

Past-Due Accounts

When a tuition payment is missed, or an account becomes past due, Seton will communicate with the family according to the following general process:

Initial missed payment: A friendly reminder will be sent to the parent/guardian.
10-14 days past due: A follow-up reminder will be sent if the balance remains unpaid.
30+ days past due: The school office will make personal contact with the family.
60+ days past due: The principal and/or Business Manager will follow up with the family to determine a plan for bringing the account current.
Significant or persistent delinquency: The school may require a meeting with the family to establish a payment arrangement or otherwise resolve the outstanding balance.

The purpose of this process is to communicate early and consistently and to allow families to address an overdue balance before it becomes a larger concern.

Financial Assistance

Seton recognizes that families may experience unexpected financial difficulties during the school year. Families experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to contact the school as soon as possible.

Families may complete the Seton Financial Assistance Form to request assistance.

We prefer to work with a family to develop a reasonable plan rather than let an account become significantly overdue without communication.

End-of-Year Balance

Tuition balances are expected to be paid in full by the end of the school year unless Seton Catholic School has approved an alternative arrangement.
